As I get older and my body becomes more slouchy, I realize that slouchy clothes don’t really work for me anymore. The more shapely and tailored my clothes, the better I look. I still enjoy (and, um, need) a loose and casual aesthetic, so for me, the trick is to alter a few pieces so they just fit better. After all, it is the clothing’s job to fit the body, not the body’s job to fit the clothing!
No, I cannot afford them.
Oatmeal is generally not a good color on me. And bulky sweaters make me look thick. But for various reasons, I keep a few somewhat unflattering sweaters, and I use scarf tricks to make them work.
For Mardi Gras day, I’m planning to “mask”–wear a costume–so here is what I wore for Lundi Gras, the day before Mardi Gras. I went with a purple, green, and gold color scheme because those are the colors associated with Fat Tuesday. I don’t normally wear brights together, but the holiday gives me an excuse to try color blocking!
